Thomas Gjerde from the Willmar, MN took down the King Slayer Championship Main Event in Las Vegas - and $25,000 CASH. Over $60,000 in cash prizes were awarded over the championship weekend, including $10,000 cash to Friday night's League Champ Championship which was won by Cory Retlzaff from Fargo, ND.
Thomas found himself on his first “TV Table” live stream on delay with Poker Night in America’s Chris Hanson providing commentary, Pokernews.com reporting live updates, and a gallery of 50+ onlookers. Gjerde did not seem phased as he calmly won hand after hand, and eventually took the Crown, the Championship Bracelet, and $25,000 cash. When asked what he would do with the money, he proclaimed “I’m going to put $10,000 away and buy in to the World Series of Poker, it’s been on my bucket list”.

Cory Retzlaff from Fargo, ND took down the League Champ Championship to kick off FPN's King Slayer National Series in Las Vegas. For his victory, he earned the prestigious National League Champ designation, League Champ Bracelet, and $10,000 cash. Cory qualified out of Prairie Brothers Brewery in Fargo, ND where he earned League Champ status playing Thursday nights in the Spring Session. Retzlaff also won the bar's Tournament of Champions, which gave him a double stack for the national event.
