Nebraska State Championship~ King Slayer

Saturday November 9, 2019 at the Big Apple in Kearney Nebraska, while 96 players qualified, only 75 registered for their chance to slay the king in the Main Event at Nationals!!! After an exciting day of poker, and commentary from our very own Steve Pris, 14 players secured their trophy’s and a ticket into the main event at Nationals in Las Vegas. The top 3 also received travel cash. 7 alternates also have an invite to Vegas where they can play any of the last chance tournaments, the tag team event, also if one or any of the 14 who qualified do not come to Vegas an alternate will take their place in the Main Event!

New to FPN, Manuel Dominguez entered the Friday Night free that had 6 tables, unfortunately he was first out. Determined to get a seat at nationals Manuel returned to play in the 6pm second chance qualifier, and he did just last taking first place, a trophy and a guaranteed seat to the Main Event. We also heard that he is expecting a baby girl January 2020! Looks like 2020 will be his year!!!! f

With just 90 min until the second chance qualifier to begin, players were anxious to play more poker, a side game, with FPN's first "All in or Fold Tournament" erupted. It drew 26 players, you could hear the commotion from across the bar, Main Event players were a little jealous, you could see and hear the good time they were having. This will be definitely be offered in the future.

***Awesome Achievement to the Wiedenfeld family*** Linda (Mother) Mike Sr. (Father) Mike Jr (Son) all qualified for the Main Event!!

Is playing in the WSOP Main Event on your bucket list?

I can tell you that, yes, it's on mine, but I did not think I would ever get the opportunity to play unless I won the lottery. I just can't see shelling out ten grand of my own money to play. So when I won the FPN National Championship tournament, Pete asked me, do I want the cash option or the seat in the WSOP main event, it was an easy answer. Of course I'll play!

David Kalet makes it to day 3 in WSOP Main Event

Current National Champion David Kalet is in Las Vegas and taking today off after making it through day 1 and 2 in the World Series of Poker Main Event.  He has played 12 hours each day grinding his way through the field.  His first table had former WSOP Main Event winner Jerry Yang on it.  Day one didn't start off too well as David was down to 10-12k from his starting stack of 50k.  Things weren't going well and he was card dead.  After he got down he was playing pretty tight and fought his way back to 25k.

David picked up A-Q and raised a bigger stack who had been re-raising the whole table all the time re-raised David.  Thought he was trying to push him around again David moved all in.  The bully actually had a hand of pocket kings.  Luckily for David he caught an ace on the flop.  As David said to us, "He made a bad move at the right time".  After he doubled up he was at around the original starting stack to end day one.

As day two started once again things were slow and he grinded his way to 70k picking up hands here and there.  Then a little bit before dinner break David's table was busted and he moved into the TV room.  With his new table he started catching hands picking up good starting hands and hitting trips with small pocket pairs.  At the end of day 2 FPN's National Champion sits at 232,700.  David said he appreciates all the support and he is having a blast.  Keep it up!!!

Champion David Kalet hits the $$$CASH$$$

National Champion David Kalet has made it through World Series of Poker Main Event day 3 and is now in the cash.  The least amount David can win is $15,000, but hopefully he can get some double ups and keep going for more!  David had kind of a rough day 3 when he got tangled up with a couple big stacks.  The first hand he had A-K of clubs when the flop came with two clubs, but couldn't catch the third one.  The other one was he had his Aces cracked against the big stack when the flop came Q high.  The big stack kept betting into him as David was trapping him, but unfortunately the river came a 6 to give the big stack two pair and crack his aces.  They played an extra hour last night until the bubble burst and in that hour David was stingy and just absorbing the blinds folding good starting hands like K-J and A-Q until it finally broke. He is sitting with 64k and will be starting day four with a 1k ante and blinds at 3k-6k.  Wishing him some quick double ups!
