Niles Short is Last Vegas or Bust Qualifier
Niles Short just turned in a scratch poker winner with four jacks to make him the last qualifier for the Vegas or Bust National Championship field. Niles scratched off the four of a kind at JC's Corral in Dilworth, MN this past Monday.
The great state of Minnesota is the largest region in the league!
Back on March 1st Christy Christensen from Hutchinson, MN won the FPN Online monthly tournament to win his way to the Vegas or Bust National Championship. Three short months later on June 1st, Christy screen name "ChristyPoker" was able to outlast a little over 80 people again punching his ticket to the Golden Ticket National Championship this winter. Christy almost went fishing on Friday, but decided to stay back to play the tournament and leave on Saturday. By doing so he caught a free trip to Vegas, good job Christy!
On Saturday May 5th 282 poker players from the state of MN convened at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN. At stake were 16 spots in the Vegas or Bust National Championship. The top eight would receive the full package of airfare allowance and hotel stay at Hooters Casino. The day was filled with plenty of excitement as it only took less than five hands to have the first all-in and a call when John Magnuson from Fergus Falls lost half of his double stack when the flop brought set over set.
Two more scratch poker winners were just turned in! Jacquelin Pavek from Cannon Falls, MN hit a straight flush (2h, 3h, 4h, 5h, and 6h) to qualify for the Vegas or Bust National Championship on July 4th at the MGM and wins $200 cash. Alex Aemisegger from Bismarck, ND hit four jacks to also qualify making him eligible for the National Championship.
