Good Luck To Heartland Poker Tour Winners This Weekend

The Free Poker Network would like to wish good luck to Tara Tupa (Dawn's Corner Bar), Mike Halverson (Sharkees), Gary Tomhave (Z103), and Billy Ballard (Champps).  These four players won a Heartland Poker Tour buy-in from last Summer's Poker Challenge II.  They will be competing this weekend in the HPT event at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs in Onamia, MN with a shot at a prize pool expected to be over $200,000!


The last time an HPT tournament was held at Grand Casino, the Free Poker Network was well represented, with two players cashing.  Alison Kelley (OB) took 7th place winning $11,103 Clay Lipke (Primetime) took 20th taking home $2,221.

4 Players Among Big Winners at Gold Rush Championship

Cindy SandgrenWhat a tournament!  Several players from the Minnesota Poker League came back big winners in the Gold Rush Championship. 

Cindy Sandgren from the Long Prairie American Legion won a $1,000 cash bounty by knocking out a player late in day 2 of the tournament.  After pulling the winning bounty ticket, Cindy shreeked hysterically, as if a spider was crawling on her lap.  The entire room paused, then cheered for her as the word passed from table to table.

Schmitty's Kicks Off Fall Poker League

Schmitty's Victoria Opening NightSchmitty's in Victoria has recently joined the Minnesota Poker League GOLD RUSH contest with league nights on Wednesdays and Sundays!

The opening night crowd was a blast with a fun group of 58 players...Larry Kramer took it down and earned a $75 gift certificate for his accomplishment, plus a great start at qualifying directly for the fall championship! 

Once again, welcome Schmitty's players, good to have ya on board!

Troy Myhrer & Mike Luetmer Having Great Results

Troy Myhrer from the Rusty Nail in Thief River Falls and Mike Luetmer from the Morris American Legion are putting up impressive numbers on their respective standings sheets.  Troy plays in a league that averages 56 players and has a 500 point lead over his nearest competitor.  Troy has made the final table 7 out of 12 weeks, including two 1st's and a 2nd. 

Mike Luetmer has had similar results at the Morris American Legion.  He also has a 500+ point lead over the next player in a league which averages 45 players a night.  He has made the final table 8 out of 14 weeks.  Amazing!

Clay Lipke Wins $2,200 with HPT Seat Won in Freeroll Side Tournament

Congrats to Clay Lipke for a great run in the HPT-Mille Lacs event recently held August 26th.  Clay finished in 20th place for $2,200.  He won the free seat at the Minnesota Poker League Fall 06 Championship in a freeroll side tournament.  Clay made it deep in the event but fell short of the final 6 "TV" table.
