On Saturday, September 19th, players from all over
the state of
South Dakota came
together at Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse in
Sioux Falls
to see who th
e next two
South
Dakota champions would be for the HPT Desert Heat
promotion. Cards were in the air a
little after
noon as 108 players
started what would turn into over a 10 hour grind to crown th
e
next two Grand Prize winners. The anticipation was high as
it took only 38 minutes to lose the first player.
Doug Magee’s National Guard unit was recently called up for duty in Iraq. On Sunday, Magee receive an early going-away present: an all expenses paid 7-day Caribbean cruise for two and a shot at the $10,000 grand prize!
Doug qualified for the championship by playing at the Sportsmen's Rendezvous in Tyndal. The SD state championship was held at Old Meyer’s Pub in Huron. Magee finished off Tony Binger from Redfield, who placed runner up.
For the first time ever in Free Poker Network's history we had not one, but two players win a second grand prize package through the league. The hottest player in the league right now is Doug Magee (pictured at right, Sportsmen's Rendezvous in Tyndall, SD) who now added a $1,500 package at the Party at the Palms National Championship at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas to his prize resume. Doug joined Skip Wood (Moorhead, MN) as the first ever two-time champions. Both Doug and Skip won a $3,500 cruise package in the Ship It promotion. While on the ship Doug won the $10,000 Highroller package as well. Doug has won more grand prizes/money then anyone in league history!
