SD Champ Troy Sattler Cashes at the 2010 WSOP!
The success stories for South Dakota league players keep rolling in from the Destination Las Vegas: 2010 WSOP promotion! Roslyn resident and DLV state champ Troy Sattler placed 278 out of 3,844 entrants in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #54, cashing out for $2,110.
Sattler earned his seat and the $1,000 buy-in for the WSOP Event #54, held at the Rio in Las Vegas starting Friday, July 2nd, by playing FREE weekly games organized by DPL on Wednesday nights at the Decoy Bar in Webster. He then qualified at the regional level to make it to the state tournament held at the Stadium Sports Grill in Madison this past May where he was one of two lucky players to earn a guaranteed seat in Event #54 as well as a free three-night stay on the Las Vegas Strip and airfare allowance.
Sattler had a one in 24 chance to turn his $1,000 buy-in into a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat during the Free Poker Network’s (FPN) Destination Las Vegas: WSOP 2010 National Championship on Thursday, July 1st at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, but it wasn’t in the cards for him that day. However, he did manage to make the most of his FREE $1,000 buy-in to Event #54 by placing in the money and bringing home some cold hard cash.
Pete Bushey, FPN’s administrator who attended the event, said: “Sattler was very short stacked throughout most of the tournament. He didn’t think he’d make the money, but he ended up holding on and went home with a nice stack of cash. We’re very happy for him.”
