It happened again, as Peggy Howard from Larimore, ND scratched her way to the Poker Pro National Championship. It took her all seven attempts, but she nailed a straight flush with the seventh attempt. Peggy got the 6-7-8-9-10 of diamonds to win her spot in the National Championship and $200. We expect there are going to be a lot more winners yet to come, good luck!
The 2011 World Series of Poker is underway and Mitch Schock from Bismarck, ND has made some early noise by making the final table of Event #6, a $1,500 Limit Holdem tournament. Mitch ended up finishing in 8th place for $19,856.
Recently Mike Van Gorkom won his league night at the Lariat Lounge in Wishek, ND. He was running good that night and for winning he received one of the scratch cards. His luck continued as he proceeded to scratch off four nines. On the seventh scratch he found the fourth nine making him FPN's first Poker Pro qualifier! The scratch cards definitely make things interesting as statistically we should have about 9-12 for this promotion. Mike can still play in league and go for a double chip stack at the nationals by qualifying again. Mike proves that on any given night you could qualify for Vegas!
Rick Barrett from Fargo, ND (screen name "Craziness") has won the last FPN Sin City Showdown National Final seat. Rick earned his game card playing at the Empire Tavern in Fargo, ND. Rick outlasted one of the largest fields in the monthly online championshpis (177 players) to capture the prize! Rick earned airfare and hotel and most importantly a seat in the national final July 2nd where 11 seats to the 2011 World Series of Poker are up for grabs! Unfortunately for Rob Anderson from White Bear Lake, MN screen name "Shooter_78" he came up just short of winning, but for his second place effort he won an iPod shuffle.
The North Dakota region held its championship event at Westside Bar & Grill in Mandan, ND over Easter weekend with 178 players in attendance. The top 11 players qualified for a seat in the Sin City Showdown national final with the top 5 players earning the bonus of airfare and hotel accommodations to Las Vegas. One additional lucky player qualified unexpectedly - Sheryl Yocom from Minot - when she scratched off 4-of-a-kind in the new "Scratch Poker" game.
