Nebraska Fall Spectacular State Championship Preview
Congratulations to the 82 qualifiers in the Free Poker Network’s Fall Spectacular Nebraska State Championship! Starting at 1 pm this Saturday, February 20th, these 82 lucky players will hit the tables at Norfolk’s The Depot for a chance to win a seat in our exclusive Fall Spectacular National Championship in Las Vegas—including an airfare and hotel package for three-nights in fabulous Las Vegas and a tournament buy-in to a WSOP Circuit Event at Caesar’s Palace.
Among the 82 players in this weekend’s event will be one BIG winner, but for those unlucky souls who bust early, a side game event lies ahead. Starting at approximately 5 pm, “busters” can join spectators to compete in a fun Tag Team Re-buy $200 Freeroll Event. We tried out this new freeroll format during our North Dakota Fall Spectacular State Championship with great success, and this time we’re offering Nebraska players a chance to get in on the tag team action as well. During this side game, players will join together in a tag-team format with an interesting twist: Each team will get a “re-buy” card. When a team loses its chips, it will receive a starting chip stack. This is sure to be a very entertaining event so tell your friends to come and join in on the action!
Looking to beat the odds in Saturday’s event are 13 players with final table experience and 19 players with a double stack starting advantage. Among these leaders are some top players to watch out for, including Jim Follette. Jim had the most points in one session, raking up 1,061 in the first session for a combined session score of 1,798, making him the point leader in this event and double chip stacked.
For the sixth time in a row, Pat McGrane will also be making a championship appearance during Saturday’s action. With more championship know-how than any other player in the field, Pat’s eight-time championship experience makes him another top contender in this state championship.
Also no stranger to championship events, Karen Sjullie will be looking to bring home the top spot in this event with six championship appearances under her belt. She’s also one of the 16 ladies vying for a chance at the Nebraska state title.
Former grand prize champions Jeff Merrill, Larry Culhane, Jeff Schultz, Charlie Woods and Cole Zentner will also be playing hard in hopes of joining the elite club of two-time grand prize champions. Be sure to watch out for all five of these top poker players as they try their luck (and skill) for a shot at the state championship title.
