Nels Peterson Cruises To Victory in Gold Rush 2 National Final
Nels got off to a great start in the tournament and some good karma may have helped him. With 20 players left, Nels called Jeff Steiner's 3k preflop push with pocket tens to Jeff's pocket Queens. Nels ended up making quads and the earning the 1st mystery bounty of the day simultaneously. Feeling bad for Jeff, he gave the $50 bounty prize back to Jeff, who then immediately proceeded to win $700 in the 1-2 No Limit game!
Anthony Thompson showed pocket aces 5 times in this tournament! He rolled to the final table and came up just short, placing 3rd.
Jim Hudson, representing the newly formed Nevada chapter of FPN started the final table low in chips, but patiently got himself back into contention and nearly won. In the end, he needed queens to hold up in order to survive. But it was Nels Peterson's day (and year!).

After the tournament, the league hosted a party in the Presidential Suite on the 18th floor. The suite was super nice with a bar, lounge area, billiard room, balcony, etc. There was a 34-player headsup tournament and a 16-player pool tournament as well as other various games. Gina Bushey won the heads up tournament over Kari Davis and Jimmy Lundquist Sr won the pool tournament over league founder Brook Lyter.
Plenty of adult beverages were consumed and the party went late into the night. There were a lot of great memories and stories that came out of the weekend...
