Jake Schoener Takes Florida Championship Title
First to exit the tournament was Dennis Lusk, who plays out of Attitude’s. Dennis had qualified for the state championship during his league’s Wild Card night and was hoping he had a chance at the big prize, but now he’ll have to wait for the next championship to try his skills again. After losing seven more players during the next few hours of play, we were down to our top 10: Katie Daniels (Attitude’s), Carol Lippert (Buffalo Wild Wings), Kelly Teems (Attitude’s), Valerie Richardson (Attitude’s), Jack Lippert (Attitude’s), Jake Schoener (Attitude’s),Tim Russell (Buffalo Wild Wings), Bryan Christensen (Attitude’s), Victor Hamidy (Attitude’s) and Verlin Merkel (Attitude’s).
After a few bad beats and many a blind level, we had our final three left at the table. It was now between Victor Hamidy, Bryan Christensen and Jake Schoener, with Victor the only player still in the running that didn’t start with the double chip stack advantage. It came down to the wire, but in the end Jake won the final hand to become the newest Florida State Champion! Congratulations, Jake! We wish you all the luck in the world at the National Championship in Las Vegas this July!
