They say good things happen to those who wait and New York has waited the longest to hold their state final for the last Golden Ticket qualifiers. This Saturday at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs, NY the cards will fly as 151 qualifiers will converge to determine the best league players in the state of NY. The action will start at 1pm Eastern and it will be a full day of poker, with the main event as well as a 2nd chance FREEROLL at 6pm. Coming from FPN headquarters will be wild card Steve Pris (pictured) to run and emcee the tournament..Buckle up for a fun ride!

Don Whitley from Highland, NY was a dominate force in the recent Vegas or Bust National Championship. Altogether there were 99 competitors that came from 19 different states to Las Vegas at the MGM poker room. Don is no stranger to championship events having competed six months ago in the Poker Pro National Championship. While their Don won the first chance tournament for his spot in this Vegas or Bust National Championship.
In his second attempt Don played solid poker all day and came in eleventh place to win himself a $1,000 seat into the World Series of Poker Event #59 the following day. The top eleven players all won a seat into Event #59 with the overall winner also receiving a $10,000 Main Event Seat. Altogether over $22,000 in cash and prizes were awarded and Don was able to get a piece of that.
The Club House Racebook in Albany will host the "Vegas or Bust" state final this weekend. League administrator Pete Bushey (pictured right) will be on hand as tournament director and to emcee all the action! Who are the best players in the state? The top 8 players will earn a seat in the exclusive national final in Las Vegas where twelve (12) seats to bracelet WSOP events will be awarded, including a giant trophy and $10,000 main event seat for the national champ. During the past few months, the New York region has blossomed since the State Liquor Authority's ruling that FREE poker does NOT constitute gambling.
During the Vegas or Bust promotion, a total of 128 players from around the state have qualified for the final at The Club House Racebook. That's quite difference from the very first state final which had only 10 players! The winners this weekend will join two other New Yorkers who have already qualified for nationals, Don Whitley from Highland (previous national qualifier and winner of the "First Chance" bonus tournament in Vegas during the FPN Poker Pro final) and Harry Hull IV from Troy (Scratch Poker winner). Of the 128 qualifiers, 13 players have earned a double stack starting bonus for qualifying for state in both the Fall and Winter quarters...
