Texas Holdem at the Father Hennepin Festival
Sunday
June 9th was the Father Hennepin Festival in Champlin, Minnesota and WOW was the weather NICE!!! Low to Mid 80's and SUNNY---
I was a little nervous setting up a Hold Em event OUTSIDE with the wind but all
in all it was great. We had a nice crowd of participants and the tournament was
FUN! Yes, it was a little weird watching all the kids riding on the
Tilt-A-Whirl while watching Tilting players in the tent. I mean what’s better
than the sound of screaming kids on the Zipper and then hearing IM ALL IN on
table 5...
The great state of Minnesota is the largest region in the league!
The first of 12 Regional
Tournaments for the 2007 WSOP went off without
a hitch on Sunday April 29th at Boxers Bar & Grill in Faribault
Minnesota. With the top 8 moving on to the
Championship May 12th at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, the
54 qualifiers were a buzzing with excitement as the first hand was dealt.
Congrats to Greg Goodwin for taking 1st place at the opening kickoff tournament at Champps in Eden Prairie. Greg finished off Travis Fransen with pocket aces in the final hand. A lot of good prizes were handed out on the opening night, including a $100 worth of gift certificates, an MPL Tournament Home Edition chip set, a set of Copag playing cards and other various prizes, maxing out the allowable $200 value allowed by state law. Weekly tournaments run on Monday nights at 7:30pm for the WSOP 12-week contest.
Play your best
during the winter months and perhaps you'll be rewarded with a seat in
the biggest poker tournament in the world this summer!!! You don't want to miss
this opportunity. Individual league champs will earn a medallion and bye to the state final. The remaining top 20% qualify for post-season playoffs. At the state final, the overall league champion will earn an entry to
the main event ($10,000) of the 2007 World Series of Poker and the runner up will earn an entry to a preliminary
event ($1,500). Both packages include roundtrip airfare and hotel
accommodations. In addition to the grand prizes, over $2,000 worth of consolation prizes will be given away at the state final. "Are You All In?" Good luck!
