News and events from the North Dakota region. The original since 2005.
Mike Marek (pictured at the Party at the Palms promo in '09) from the Grand Forks area is no stranger to winning online and qualifying to Las Vegas. He recently did it again winning the Fall Regional Tournament to get himself qualified for Nationals on Friday, May 29th. One of Mike's opponents that day will be Greg Haberman from Folwerville, MI who won the March 1st FPN Online tournament. Way to go guys!
The state of North Dakota suffered a big loss this past weekend when we lost a great poker player in Dean Leingang. Dean had been playing in FPN since the days it started just as the Dakota Poker League. He was regularly seen around the tables at many bars in the Bismarck/Mandan area. Dean has won multiple state championships and been to Vegas many times with the FPN crew. He also won at nationals a couple times winning two seats in the World Series of Poker through the league at different times. His personality, smile, and table presence will be greatly missed.
Steve Garten who is a familiar face around the Fargo Moorhead area was the big winner this past Sunday in the National TOC tournament. Steve took the tournament down to become qualified for the National Championship in Las Vegas on June 7th. Congratulations Steve!
Congratulations to Jay Johnson who plays out of the El Roco bar in Grand Forks, ND. He was randomly selected for the May perfect attendance drawing. Just by showing up and playing poker each Tuesday at El Roco, Jay has now qualified for the next National Championship in November. Congrats Jay!
Mitchell Vold from Mekinock, ND is the latest winner in the scratch poker two pair or better drawing. Mitchell plays at the Larimore Vets Club in Larimore where he attained his card. He scratched off trip jacks to get qualified. His card was pulled out of the bucket to win. There were about 200 cards in this month's drawing. Congratulations Mitchell you are now qualified for the National Championship in Las Vegas.
