Nebraska State Championship Preview

The top players in the Nebraska Poker League will get their shot this weekend at the state championship in Lincoln, where the top 2 players will earn a $2500 package to Las Vegas to play in a 2008 World Series of Poker event, plus a seat in the Free Poker Network national finals where they could win another entry to the $10,000 main event.

Several previous Nebraska Poker League winners have qualified again for the Nebraska Poker League championship. Jeff Schulz & Vern Runyan each won a seat in last year's WSOP playing in the free league, and both have qualified again. Jeff Merrill from Columbus won a seat in the main event of the 2006 Caribbean Adventure in the inaugural season of the Nebraska Poker League and came close to winning a WSOP package last year with a final table finish. He's made it again for this championship. Larry Culhane won a trip to play in the Bay 101 in the Gold Rush contest and is back again, making this championship a very interesting tournament...

Approx 125 players have qualified and will convene Sunday, May 17th to do battle. The top 2 players will be big winners. In addition to the main event, there will be free side games, including a $300 freeroll at approx 4pm.
