News and events from the Florida region.
Congratulations to former state champion Jack Lippert and Tracy Hedman who recently won the Florida State Championship. Both players have won their spot in the 100 WSOP National Championship on June 29th in Las Vegas and both are guaranteed a WSOP buy-in the following day. Depending on how each do at the National Championship will depend which size WSOP buy they receive. Congrats and good luck at Nationals!
Jack Lippert who is no stranger to the National Championship was able to qualify again for the Vegas or Bust National Championship making this his third appearance in a row, quite remarkable. Jack was able to get second place to eventual winner Mike Yoder who along with his victory of qualifying receives airfare allowance and a free hotel stay at Hooters. We look forward to seeing both players in Vegas soon!
Marc Nault from Fleming Island, FL won a cruise package back in January on FPN Online. Being from Florida he substitued the cruise to come out to Las Vegas instead and play in a World Series of Poker Event. It turned out to be a great decision for him as he made it into day two in WSOP event number 54. Marc ended up cashing for $2,676 to come back home with. He is one for one in WSOP events. Way to go Marc!!!
Recently in Florida Jack Lippert (pictured at SCS Championship) from Attitudes Food & Spirits in Fort Walton Beach became a back to back winner having just won the Florida Sin City Showdown State Championship six months ago. He is going back to Vegas for the Poker Pro National Championship and he's brining his sister with. Carol Lippert came in second place to lock up her spot on December 3rd as well.
While that was going on in Pennsylvania at their State Championship the husband wife couple of Geoff and Donna Schutzbank both out of the Roadhouse Inn, were taking first and second to win their way to Vegas as well. Geoff was the eventual winner, but both are qualified and I'm sure they will be sharing the package they have just won.
Linda Caldarade from Fort Walton Beach had an unbelievable run at the Sin City Showdown National Championship. Representing the state of Florida, Linda competed with 74 other people from around the US. On the line was ten seats into the WSOP event number 54. Linda played her game all through the tournament and was able to capture one of the ten seats! Linda played a very long time the following day in the WSOP, but unfortunately wasn't able to make it to day two. However it was a great experience for her and we look forward to seeing her again at a future National Championship.
