Gearing Up for the Minnesota State Championship
Besides awarding six grand prize packages to Saturday's winners, we'll also have some freeroll action throughout the day for more than $200 in cash and merchandise prizes. So be sure to tell your family and friends to come out and watch and get in on the freeroll action! Of course, there are also plenty of games going on in the casino's poker room. Just check out their website at www.starcasino.com for a peak at the schedule.There will also be some notable players in this weekend's event, including Joel Smith who qualified out of the Sebeka Liquor Store. Joel has more state championship experience than anyone else in the field with 13 events under his belt. Joel will be looking to break out of the burdensome bubble he's had and follow in Art Zieman's (ND's most notable bubble boy) footsteps to finally pick up one of the grand prizes and be on his way to Las Vegas. Of course, we also have nearly a dozen players in the field that have won a championship package in the past, including three-time state champ Clay Lipke, who plays out of the Primetime Sports in Breezy Point, two-time state champ Skip Wood, who plays out of JC's Corral in Dillworth, and two-time state champ Reuben Sufka, who also plays out of the Ultimate Sports Bar in Waite Park. But, of course, with so many people in the field, it will really be anyone's game!
