Seven Grand Prizes on the Line in Minnesota

Among the 243 players in this weekend’s event will be seven BIG winners, but for those unlucky souls who bust early, a side game event will be on the horizon. Starting at approximately 6 pm, “busters” can join spectators to compete in a fun Tag Team Re-buy Freeroll Event. We tested this new freeroll format during our other Fall Spectacular State Championship events and players can’t seem to get enough, so we’re bringing it to Minnesota so you can all get in on the tag team action! During this side game, players will join together in a tag-team format with an interesting twist: Each team will get a “re-buy” card. When a team loses its chips, it will receive a starting chip stack. This is sure to be a very entertaining event so tell your friends to come and join in on the action!

There’s no doubt that all 243 players will be holding out for one of the seven grand prizes, but in the mix this Saturday are quite a few players with a bit of an edge. An astounding 12 players in Saturday’s field have won championship packages before, including Clay Lipke who took home a $2,500 Destination Las Vegas Package, a $10,000 Main Event Seat and a $2,000 package in the Desert Heat Promotion. Clay is also an eight time qualifier currently playing out of Primetime in Breezy Point. Watch out for Clay because he will no doubt be watching out for you!

Also be on the lookout for Nathan Avery who plays out of the Golden Valley VFW. Nathan’s the combined point leader in the field with an amazing 3,250 points! He played league all season extremely well, and he’s hoping his luck will continue during Saturday’s event. And while this might be his first championship event, it certainly won’t stop him from playing to win!

We’ve also got a 10 time qualifier in the mix: Skip Wood. Skip’s championship experience has certainly added up over the years and he will undoubtedly be looking to take home one of the seven grand prize packages. Lucky for him, he already has two under his belt, having won a $1,500 Party at the Palms package and a $3,500 Ship It package. Skip’s eyes are now set on hitting Vegas this April for the WSOP Circuit Event. 

With 243 qualifiers there are obviously many other poker virtuosos to keep your eyes on this Saturday, so be sure to make it out to Mahnomen and bring your family and friends! We hope to see you all there!
